What We Build — Outdoor Kitchens & Grilling Stations

A freestanding grill is not an outdoor kitchen. An outdoor kitchen is a permanent installation with a continuous countertop, built-in appliances, a proper base, a gas supply line or propane connection, electrical for lighting and refrigeration, and a layout designed for how two or three people actually move when they're cooking for guests. We build the real thing — and homeowners in Westport and Greenwich who've had one for a season wonder how they survived without it.

The design process starts with how you cook and entertain. Do you grill exclusively? Do you want a side burner, a pizza oven, a smoker? Is the kitchen the focal point of your outdoor space or is it tucked to one side so it doesn't compete with a fire feature or view? How many people are you typically feeding — eight people on a Tuesday night or forty for a birthday party? The answers drive the counter run length, the appliance mix, and the seating configuration. We've designed kitchens in Darien and New Canaan that anchor an entire outdoor living program, and we've designed compact two-burner stations for Wilton clients who just want a proper grilling setup without the full installation.

Base construction is where most outdoor kitchen builders lose the plot. Masonry bases with a concrete board backer and exterior-rated finish — not plywood and stucco that absorbs moisture and cracks in three winters. We use marine-grade or concrete backer substrates throughout, specify appliances with stainless cavities designed for outdoor installation, and select countertop materials that won't stain, crack, or fade in the Connecticut sun. Porcelain slab counters in large format are our current go-to for clients in Ridgefield and Southport — extremely durable, beautiful, and easy to maintain.

We handle the full scope in-house — base construction, countertops, appliance installation, gas line coordination, and electrical rough-in. Most contractors subcontract two or three of those elements and lose quality control in the handoffs. We manage it all, which means one point of accountability and a finished product that performs as designed from day one.
